I’ve consolidated my thoughts on LLMs into a blog.
Going through an adjustment right now after moving from the Bay, where I’ve lived my whole life, to Seattle, where I never imagined living right up until I was told I had to go there. The Washington State car community has been a very mixed bag with wins relatively uncommon. I’ve had a bit more luck finding individual cool people and branching out into other hobbies like photography, as many of the car-meet dwellers aren’t really my type of person.
Doesn’t mean I’ll stop trying to build my car or take it onto the track. That effort is encouraged by local resources, such as a large contingent of E36 enthusiasts and a local shop (22RPD) that supports an E36 K-swap kit and tunes European cars. From what I hear around the grapevine, the shop is reputable! Hopefully none of the parts rust out before I get to it.
I’ll have to hash out the garage space issue now, too. My garage is good for small repairs, such as wheels, suspension, etc. But it’s too small to handle a whole engine swap. That’ll probably need either a very generous friend or professional support from 22RPD. Neither’s a bad option if I repay in kind (easier for a business).
But overall, as of now, I’ve got people in the Bay and I’ve got people in Seattle. It’s starting to feel less like I’ve got to cope while I’m up here and more that it’s a different subset of cool people. Having a small contingent and decent weather does make this place feel less suffocating. Hopefully this stays the same after some soon-pending upheavals.
I’ve started picking up skiing more and more. The result of this is a greater knowledge of what good form should look like, a mild improvement in practiced form, no longer being last place in the top speed rankings, and better confidence on bumpier and less polished black diamonds. I did every other bucket list item last week at Mount Baker, such as skiing (functionally sliding on ice) down a double-black and doing a bunch of piste runs in a very outrageous cosplay. Maybe I should’ve had better carving before I tried that, though. It’s aura loss if you don’t do it well.
There are a few things that are pending. If, in a few months, I don’t get onto them, you can point and laugh at me and suggest I take Adderall.
This rotation is an album.
